TPO (Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cities)
[아시아 태평양 도시관광홍보기구]는 2002년에 부산에서 개최된 [아시아–태평양 도시 서미트가]에서 아시아–태평양지역 관광산업발전을 위해 도시간 네트워크 형성의 필요성에 공감하여 TPO 창설 합의하였다. 당시 24개 도시가 참석하였으나, 현재 회원도시는 15개 국의 130도시로 증가 되었다. 본 기구의 사무국은 대한민국 부산 수영구에 소재하고 있다.
집회는 총회가 있으며, 역대 가장 성대한 총회는 2019년에 한국의 부산(Pusan)에서 개최된 제 9회로 15국에서 80회원사의 700명의 대표단원이였다. 촣회 외에 임원회, 심포지음 등 여러 가지 회의와 홍보를 위한 여러 가지 활동을 하고 있다.
회원 도시 수를 자세히 보면, 제일 많은 나라는 대한민국(Korea)으로 Andong을 위시해서 41개도시, 중국(China)이 Chendu를 위시해서 26개도시, 3번째가 Indonesia로 19개, 다음으로 Malasia 8개, 일본(Japan) Fukuoka를 위시해서 7도시 그리고 Nepal 5, Timor 4, Taipei 3, Mongol과 Russia 각각 2개, Kazachistan, Laos, Philipines, Thailand, Usbekistan이 각각 1 도시의 회원사를 갖고 있다. / www.aptpo.org/eng

TPO(Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cities) is an international organization established in 2002 with the blessing of the 5th Asian-Pacific City Summit. TPO was borne to be an inter-city network to promote the exchanges and development of tourism industry among major cities in the Asia Pacific region.
With the advent of the 21st Century where the urbanization of the society is heading for its full blossom, Asian-Pacific City Summit agreed that the city is an epicenter to enhance the quality of people’s life and to lead the development of civil society. In an effort to realize a better and durable cities, the summit also recognized the importance of the preservation of environment and tradition belonging to individual cities and encouraged the communication and exchanges among civil societies.
On the basis of such an agreement, Asian-Pacific Summit emphasized the role of tourism in enhancing mutual understanding among people through human exchanges. And the Summit offered the TPO as a platform to drive systemitic development and promotion of tourism industry in the Asia Pacific region.
TPO functions as a network among city governments and private entities in the arena of tourism. The organization is endowed with the responsibility to encourage its members to work together to support tourism industry. The goal of organization is translated into a number of projects in the field: exchange of information and opinions among the member cities, marketing of tourist destinations, developing new tourism products, fostering human resources in the tourism sector etc.
TPO began with the membership of 24 cities from 12 countries in 2002. The organization is currently further enriched with the increased commitment of 81 city governments and 40-odd non-government entities representing tourism-related associations, educational and research institutes, and private sectors.
